So tomorrow September 8th is Rachel’s birthday and tonight we are going out to eat with my parents at Bravo. She is getting a brand new iPhone 3Gs from my parents. I can’t wait to see her face when she gets the phone. We had talked about switching and gettig them but I told her that I simply couldn’t make it happen. I’ll post some pics at the bottom of this post so you can all see her excitement!

We Found Our Reception Place

So we found the site where we are going to have our wedding reception. It’s going to be at the Athletic Club of Columbus. We weren’t sure what we were going to do going into the tour of the building but as soon as we walked into the ballroom and saw the space it was a no-brainer. It was exactly what we were looking for. Rachel and Harry at Dué Amici Engaged!

December 31st, 2008 was the night that Harry and Rachel got engaged. A new year was on the horizon as was a new engagement. Harry got a reservation at Dué Amici and reserved a table for a secluded spot in the restaurant. It was a very beautiful but very cold December evening. Harry and Rachel were living litterally one building over in their aparment complex at the time so Harry walked over to pick up Rachel from her house and take off for dinner. Being that it was the middle of the winter Rachel decided she would wear her Ugg boots on the way to the restaurant and change into her nicer shoes when we got to the restaurant.

The drive down was so nerve racking. I was more nervous than I had ever been in my life. I had the ring in my jacket pocket and litterally checked every 2 minutes to make sure it was still there. I was trying to seem connected with the conversation on the way down to the car but she was essentially talking to a brick wall. I have never had more butterflies in my entire life.
By the time we got down to the restaurant everything was all set. We were there, and everything was going to plan, or so I thought. Rachel looked in her bag she thought she had packed her nice shoes in and realized that, oops, they weren’t in there! Of course something like this would happen to me on one of the biggest nights of my life, nothing like a little Watson drama, before asking the toughest question a man can ask in his life.
I bit my tongue and swallowed my pride and drove back home. Fortunately we had showed up downtown early enough that we weren’t going to miss the reservation we had planned. I grabbed the shoes and got back to the restaurant in time for our dinner. We sat down at our table, and yet again, the nerves started settling in. Rachel was essentially talking to a brick wall once more. Finally just before our meals got to the table I couldn’t take it anymore, I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. Fortunately she said yes and here we are today! Ok Rachel’s turn.

Harry and I were planning on going out to dinner for a nice New Year’s evening. On our way downtown I was talking Harry’s ear off and he just kept giving me one word answers. From my point of view it was nothing new. I had worn my Uggs down so my feet wouldn’t get cold, but by the time we got down there I realized I forgot my nice shoes and asked Harry to drive me back to my apartment to pick them up. I couldn’t wear Ugg boots to a nice restaurant, come on. We finally got to the restaurant after some time. We had a nice private table in the corner by the window. Harry was acting a little weird and not his usual relaxed self. He kept staring at me and trying to hold my hand. He then started this very nice speech about how much he loves me and then got down on one knee and busted out a huge rock that no one could say no to. JUST kidding! I was a bit nervous and overwhelmed, but still excited and happy! I love Harry very much and after the shock subsided I couldn’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him.
